Project Description:
The Director Essentials project will produce a website that will serve as a comprehensive resource for all Massachusetts Library Directors. This project will bring together content for public, academic, school and special library directors. It will be a resource for both seasoned and new directors – from those who have a lot of experience but need counsel on a particular issue to those who have the Basic Library Techniques courses as their foundation but need a place to turn to for help solving problems and determining best practices. The content will be interspersed with advice from current directors in the form of podcasts on a wide variety of administrative issues, such as budgeting, planning, dealing with customer complaints, managing buildings etc. We will also hold a Director’s Boot camp, an opportunity for Directors from all over the state to go past regional boundaries and share information, provide feedback and collaborate on creating content for the project.
Step 1 - Form a steering commitee and set up a meeting.
Our first meeting was held on Wednesday, November 28 from 1:30-4:30 at CMRLS HQ.
